Wildcats, NW Missouri State slated to meet in '08 opener

ABILENE -- ACU director of athletics Jared Mosley announced Thursday that he has agreed on a two-year contract for a home-and-home football series with NCAA Division II powerhouse Northwest Missouri State for the 2008 and 2009 seasons.

The Wildcats will open their 2008 season on Aug. 30 in Maryville, Mo., and the Bearcats will return the trip the next season as the two teams launch their 2009 seasons on Aug. 29 at Shotwell Stadium. The Wildcats and Bearcats have met only once on the football field with that 1985 matchup ending in a 24-24 tie.

“We are very excited about the upcoming home-and-home series with Northwest Missouri State,” Mosley said. “This will be a great opportunity for us to kick off the 2008 season against one of the top NCAA Division II programs in the country at one of the best venues in Division II. This is a great game not only for ACU, but for Division II football fans across the country.”
