
Wildcats in 2nd after Round 1

PONTE VEDRA, Fla.- Barton College is leading the 17-team field by four-strokes in the Queens Invitational hosted by Queens University of Charlotte at TPC Sawgrass in Ponte Vedra, Fla. The two-round tournament will conclude on Tuesday with 18 holes of play.
The ACU Wildcats are only four shots behind Barton College after firing a first-round 292. Belmont Abbey is tied with the Wildcats at 292 with Flagler College in fourth at 293 and Lander University fifth at 295.
ACU's Cyril bouniol and freshman Alex Carpenter are each tied for fifth in the individual standings after they each shot first-round 72s. Adam Carpenter and Tyler Sheppard are each tied for 22nd at 74s, while Kyle Dickerson is tied for 67th after shooting a first-round 79.
Barton has two golfers in the top two spots, Daniel Casstleberry in first place with a score of 68 and Thomas Muto Jr. is tied for second with a two under. Joining Muto in the second spot are John Frisby of Belmont Abbey College, Chris Bray of Flagler College, Pete Skirpstas of Mount Olive and Nate Gahman of Georgia Southwestern.
The field of 89 includes 17 teams, three ranked in DII top 25 (Florida Southern, No. 6, Lander, No. 21, and Belmont Abbey, No. 22), and five individuals.
