RICHARDSON – After kicking two of the longest field goals in ACU history Morgan Lineberry was named Lone Star Conference South Division Special Teams Player of the Week.
Lineberry converted his first of two field goals with 1:05 left in the first half as he connected on a 56-yard yarder sending the Wildcats into halftime down 15-10 at Midwestern State. His 51-yard field goal in the second half was the only points scored in the second half as ACU fell 15-13 Saturday to the Mustangs.
With the two 50-yard-plus field goals it marks the first time in ACU history this feat has happened in the same game. He is also the first kicker in school history with three 50-yard field goals in the same season with a 52-yarder in the Wildcats win over East Central.
Lineberry was also 1-1 on extra points on the day. He is 7-9 on the season having converted on all attempts over 50-yards.
His 56-yarder is the third longest in school history behind the world record of Ove Johansson's 69-yard field goal against East Texas in 1976. Bob Bearden holds the second longest with his 58-yarder against Angelo in 1969.
