ABILENE – It took an extra period, but the Wildcats were able to escape with a victory again from another freshmen to give the Wildcats (6-3, 1-0) a victory over visiting UT-Brownsville (3-3-1) on Sunday. Lexi Stirling sent a header from Jordan Reese in the 96th minute to the back of the net at the Wildcat Soccer Pitch.
A scoreless game at the end of regulation forced the fourth overtime in five games for the Wildcats. Which give them their best start in their young history as they end non-conference play.
ACU was again able to outshoot their opponents 18-11 and did not allow a shot for the Scorpions in overtime.
The goal is Stirling's second of the season and fourth point as she leads the Wildcats in points and shots taken with 29.
ACU will host the Northeastern Riverhawks this Friday Oct. 3rd at 4 p.m. in LSC action.
