ACU in seventh after first round

First-round scores

SAN ANTONIO -- The ACU Wildcats are tied for seventh place after Monday's opening round of The Bruce Williams Memorial Invitational golf tournament at The Dominion Country Club.


The Wildcats and Northeastern State each shot first-round scores of 301 at the par-72, 6,937-yard layout.  The Wildcats and Redmen are 14 shots behind first-round leader and tournament host St. Mary's.


Our Lady of the Lake is second at 294, followed by Trinity at 295, Dallas Baptist at 297 and Western New Mexico and West Texas A&M at 299.


Freshman Adam Carpenter – who last week won the individual championship at The Territory Classic in Duncan, Okla. – is tied for 12th in the individual medalist standings after firing a first-round 73.


Tyler Sheppard is tied for 19th at 74, followed by Alex Carpenter tied for 31st at 75.  Cyril Bouniol is tied for 66th at 79, while Kyle Dickerson is tied for 76th after an opening-round 81.


Morgan Johnson is competing only as a medalist and is tied for 12th after firing an opening-round 73.
