DURANT, Okla. -- Southeastern Oklahoma State outscored ACU 21-13 in overtime Thursday night as the Savage Storm took an 80-72 win over the Wildcats in a Lone Star Conference crossover basketball game at Bloomer Sullivan Arena.
The loss for the Wildcats drops them to 6-8, while the Savage Storm improves to 5-9 with the victory. ACU will complete crossover play Saturday at 4 p.m when it takes on East Central in Ada, Okla.
ACU trailed the Savage Storm 59-57 late in regulation before
Eddie Thompson hit a jumper with 14 seconds to play to tie the game at 59-59. Mychal Horn missed a jumper with two seconds left and the game went to overtime.
The Wildcats never led in the extra period as the Savage Storm opened overtime with a 10-4 run to go up 69-63 with 2:43 to play. But Thompson hit a 3-pointer with 2:23 to play to cut the lead to 69-66, giving the Wildcats a chance.
But the Savage Storm ripped off a 6-0 run to go up by 10 points (76-66) with 1:11 to play and the Wildcats weren't able to recover.
Thompson led the Wildcats with 18 points, while
Marcus Washington had 12 points and
Preston Davis 10.
