Wildcats Snap Bronchos Streak

EDMOND, Okla. – Mack Lankford finished with 23 points and Autumn Whitaker added 21 points as ACU knocked off Central Oklahoma, 87-71 in Lone Star Conference Crossover action at Hamilton Field House Monday night ending an eight game home winning streak for the Bronchos.
The Wildcats shot lights out in the first half knocking down seven three pointers, as Whitaker hit a trey with 16:39 left in the first half to give ACU a lead they would relinquish. ACU led 10-8 at that point and would go on to lead by as many as 20 as Whitaker hit four of ACU's eight three's in the game.
ACU out-rebounded UCO 44-29 and were led by Kelsey Smith who finished with her third double-double adding 14 points and 10 rebounds.
The ACU defense was solid forcing 24 turnovers and limited UCO to under 40 percent shooting in the second half. UCO only managed two three pointers as they finished 2 for 14 from behind the arc.
Cecliee Perez was also in double figures for the Wildcats adding 13 points.
Alyssa Fuxa led all scorers with 28 points.
The win for ACU snapped a five game winning streak for UCO and an eight game home winning streak. The Wildcats improve to 2-6 on the season as the Bronchos fall to 5-2.
ACU returns home on Saturday to face East Central in LSC Crossover action with tipoff at Moody Coliseum scheduled for 2 p.m. Fans can earn free admission by bringing an unwrapped toy to help Toys for Tots sponsored by the US Marine Corps.
