Wildcats Bomb Bronchos, 12-1

ABILENE – Four home runs from the Wildcats led to an impressive 12-1 run rule victory over Central Oklahoma on Sunday afternoon at Crutcher Scott Field. Travis Latz's third long ball of the season in the bottom of the eighth inning gave ACU a walk-off win for their sixth straight improving to 6-0 overall and 2-0 in the Lone Star Conference. 

ACU got on the board early as Aaron Oliver singled up the middle to lead off the game. He scored when Chris Hall reached third when he hit the ball off the right center field wall, but was called out as UCO made an appeal to second which was up held.

Oliver was solid for the Wildcats going 4 for 5 with an RBI and scoring four times. 

The Wildcats added two more in the second when Ian Tompkins hit his first home run for ACU as he made his second start of the season. Oliver added the second run of the inning after reaching on an error and scoring when Hall reached on a throwing error by the Bronchos shortstop.

Both teams would be set down in order until Willie Uechi tripled to lead off the sixth inning. He would score when Will Calhoun hit into a double play to the right side for his only RBI of the day. Cameron Watten would then be the second Wildcat to homer as he connected with his first of the season over the wall in right center.

ACU would add three more runs in the seventh and one more in the eight when Calhoun homered to lead off the inning, his first of the season.

Central Oklahoma scored their only run of the game when right fielder Ryan Schoonover homered off Jordan Hartley who came in relief in the eighth. Latz homered in the bottom half of the inning after Oliver doubled and Uechi walked giving ACU runners at first and second. It was the 11th RBI for Latz who leads the Wildcats in both categories.

Senior Cameron Aspaas was solid on the mound for the Wildcats as he pitched seven scoreless allowing one hit. He walked one and struck out two as neither runner got past second until the home run off Justice.
