STEPHENVILLE -- The seventh-ranked ACU Wildcats rolled to an 8-1 win over No. 21 Tarleton State late Wednesday in a Lone Star Conference women's tennis match at the Tarleton Tennis Courts.
The win is the sixth straight for the Wildcats, who are now 13-2 on the season. Tarleton State, meanwhile, fell to 8-5 on the season. ACU will be back in action Friday in Dallas when it takes on SMU and again on Saturday when it takes on Northeastern State in another LSC match in Dallas.
The Wildcats got off to a fast start, winning all three doubles matches, including at No. 1 where the nation's sixth-ranked doubles team (
Dina Pavlin and
Jaclyn Walker) knocked off Tarleton's Mariana Freitas and Rocio Cabanillas, 9-8. ACU easily won the other two matches to take a 3-0 lead in the match.
Julia Mongin took a 6-1, 6-1 win over Adriana Jaskova at No. 1 singles, while
Jaclyn Walker beat Freitas, 6-0, 6-0, at No. 2 singles to get the Wildcats off to a good start in singles action. ACU five of six singles matches en route to the victory.
