ABILENE – The first NCAA Regional rankings were released on Wednesday as the Wildcats entered the poll at No. 2. Also this weekends' Lone Star Conference series at Southwestern Oklahoma has been moved to a Saturday/Sunday format.
The Wildcats who are the 6th-ranked team in the nation find themselves behind Central Missouri who sit at No. 2 in the country. ACU is 38-8 on the season and are just a spot ahead of last year's national runner-up Emporia State at No. 3 and carry a 28-8 record.
Rounding out the top six teams in the region that qualify for the South Central Region tournament are Incarnate Word at No. 4 followed by Nebraska-Omaha at No.5, and St. Mary's at No. 6. Fort Hays State of the MIAA sits just outside at No. 7 while Southeastern Oklahoma who handed ACU their only series loss of the season comes in at No. 8.
ACU returns to action this weekend at Southwestern Oklahoma in Weatherford, Oklahoma for a pair of doubleheaders. The original schedule has been changed because of forecasted weather to a 1 p.m. doubleheader start on Saturday and a twin bill on Sunday as well starting at noon.
