THACKERVILLE, Okla. – The ACU Wildcats had two players hit record marks Monday at Day 2 of the Lone Star Conference Championship at WinStar Golf Course.  Alex Carpenter tied the record for low round in a three-day LSC Championship with a 65, but would soon have that mark broke when Cyril Bouniol carded a 64 also tying the course record.

As a team the Wildcats worked their way in to second place just three shots back of team leader Midwestern State.  Three Players were under par for the Wildcats who finished at 573 (-3) including Bouniol and Alex Carpenter as twin brother Adam was -1 under on the day.

Bouniol started the day at Even par but quickly got to work with four consecutive birdies starting on No. 3.  He was at -4 at the turn before recording four more birdies on the back nine to sit at -8 for the Championship and in a tie for the tournament lead.  Bouniol birdied No. 12, 13, and 14 before making par on the final four holes including a tough par on No. 18.

Alex Carpenter moved to -1 under on the front nine as he finished the front side with a birdie.  He would get to -3 under before a bogey set him back at No. 14, but would recover to birdie No. 16.  The highlight of the day came on No. 18 as Carpenter sank a chip in for Eagle off the right side of the green for his 65.  You can watch the video here courtesy of the LSC.

“Today was awesome with no wind.  The greens were soft and I was able to attack some flags and really be aggressive,” Carpenter said.  “We all really like this course so to stay patient has helped and the birdies fell in.”

With a 65 Carpenter has a two day total of 139 (-5) for the Championship.  His 65 was also

Adam Carpenter fired a 71 (-1) for the day which moved him into a tie at 15th.  Carpenter got to -2 under after nailing a 60ft putt on No. 13 for birdie, but a bogey at No. 16 pushed him back to -1 where he finished.  He is +2 for the Championship heading into tomorrow's final round.

Tyler Sheppard also helped the Wildcats scoring as he shot a 75 on the day pushing his score to +8 for the Championship.
