ABILENE -- The ACU Wildcats are only four strokes out of the lead and in position to win their second tournament of the spring going into Tuesday's final round of the UCO / Kickingbird Classic.
The Wildcats fired rounds of 275 and 284 to finish Monday's first day at 1-under-par 559, four shots behind Cameron, which is at 5-under-par 555 (271-284). Two-time defending champion and host Central Oklahoma is third in the 17-team tournament at 562 after consecutive rounds of 281.
The Wildcats have four golfers in the top 25, including junior
Cyril Bouniol. Bouniol is tied with Cameron's Jason Timmis for the individual lead after both finished the first two rounds at 5-under-par 135.
Bouniol and Timmis are the only two players in the field to have fired back-to-back rounds in the 60s. Bouniol shot a first-round 68 and followed it with a second-round 67. Timmis, meanwhile, shot rounds of 69-66 for his 135.
The third and final round will begin at 8 a.m. Tuesday at the par-70, 6,722-yard Kickingbird Golf Course.
