WARRENSBURG, Mo. -- Four ACU baseball players have been voted to the Daktronics all-South Central Region team, including first team selections
Aaron Oliver and Will Calhoun.
Joining Oliver and Calhoun on the team are second team selections
Zach Sneed and
Brad Rutherford. the Daktronics team is selected by the College Sports Information Directors from around the region, which includes the Lone Star Conference, Heartland Conference and the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association.
Oliver -- the LSC Player of the Year and the MVP of the LSC Post-Season Baseball Championship -- is hitting .402 with 11 home runs and 57 RBI going into the regional tournament. Calhoun -- who also pitches for the Wildcats with a 4-1 record -- is hitting .411 with 11 home runs and 51 RBI on the season.
Sneed was a first team all-LSC selection in his first season as a Wildcat and carries a 8-1 record to go along with a 3.73 ERA into the NCAA post-season. Rutherford, meanwhile, has had another outstanding season as the Wildcats' closer. With 21 career saves (10 this season) he is ACU's all-time saves leader with 21. He enters the regional tournament at 3-2 on the year with a 2.06 ERA, 10 saves and 44 strikeouts in 48 innings of work.
Central Missouri outfielder Chance Tuttle was voted the region's Player of the Year, while University of Nebraska-Omaha pitcher Joe Holtmeyer was voted the region's Pitcher of the Year. Tuttle was the MIAA Player of the Year, leading the No. 3 Mules in batting average and runs scored. Holtmeyer leads the nation in strikeouts and was named the MIAA Pitcher of the Year.
