DUNCAN, Okla. -- The ACU Wildcats find themselves in fourth place after Monday's first round of the NCAA Division II South / South Central Super Region golf tournament at The Territory Golf Course.
The 13th-ranked Wildcats fired a 4-over-par 292 and trail Wayne State, which leads the tournament at 278. Central Missouri is second at 285, followed by Ferris State at 287 and ACU at 292. The top five teams and top two individuals on teams not in the top five -- regardless of region -- will advance to the NCAA Division II national tournament.
ACU freshman Alex Carpenter and junior Cyril Bouniol, as usual, lead the way for the Wildcats as Carpenter is tied for fifth at 2-under-par 70 and Bouniol is tied for 13th at 1-under-par 71. Carpenter and Bouniol tied for the Lone Star Conference individual championship two weeks ago when ACU won the league title for the first time since 1995.
