ABILENE -- The ACU Wildcats wasted little time in disposing of the Lady Blues of Washburn, winning Thursday afternoon by a score of 5-0 in the NCAA Division II South Central Region women's tennis tournament at the Eager Tennis Center.
The Wildcats (26-7 and ranked No. 7 in the country) will play Incarnate Word for the women's regional title at 12:30 p.m. Friday at ACU. The Cardinals advanced to the championship match with a 5-3 win over Central Oklahoma earlier Thursday.
On the men's side, Incarnate Word knocked off Washburn, 5-2, in Thursday's semifinal match, pushing the Cardinals into Friday's 10 a.m. championship match against top-seeded ACU, which received a bye into the final.
The ACU women had little trouble with Washburn as the Wildcats cruised to their sixth straight win. The Wildcats didn't lose a set to the Lady Blues and were never really threatened. The closest match of the day came at No. 2 doubles where

Hannah Kelley of ACU knocked off Morgan Rainey and Whitney Zitsch of Washburn, 8-5.
