ABILENE – Four ACU football players have been selected pre-season all-America by Consensus Draft Services, which announced its team earlier this month.
Senior offensive tackle Trevis Turner was selected as a first team pre-season all-America player, while junior defensive end Aston Whiteside was selected to the second team. Senior guard Royland Tubbs and sophomore Matt Webber were each selected to the honorable mention team.
Turner, an honorable mention all-Lone Star Conference South Division selection in 2009, has already been tabbed a first team pre-season all-America by Lindy's magazine. Whiteside – a first team all-LSC South Division selection in 2009 – was among NCAA Division II leaders in both sacks (9.5) and tackles for loss (14.5) in 2009, and he's also been tabbed as a first team pre-season all-America by both The Sporting News and Lindy's magazine.
Tubbs, a first team all-LSC South Division selection in 2009, was picked as a pre-season first team all-America by The Sporting News.
