UNIVERSITY PLACE, Wash. -- ACU golfer Tyler Sheppard dominated Scott Harvey on Wednesday, knocking off the No. 26 seed in the U.S. Amateur, 4 and 2, in a Round of 64 match.
Sheppard will be back on the course Thursday morning and with a win there will play Thursday afternoon as the tournament will be down to eight remaining players going into Friday.
The quarterfinals are set for Friday with the semifinals set for Saturday. The 36-hole final will be played Sunday.
Sheppard will play former Stanford standout Joseph Bramlett at 11:10 a.m. (Abilene time). A win there will put him into the Round of 16 later Thursday afternoon.
On Wednesday, Sheppard never trailed as he took a 2-up lead after three holes with a birdie on No. 1 followed by two pars and another birdie. Harvey, meanwhile, parred No. 1 and bogeyed No. 3 to fall behind early.
