LAS VEGAS, Nev. – The ACU Wildcats bounced back from a disappointing loss to Lynn (Fla.) on Tuesday with a dominating 7-2 win over No. 5 West Florida at the Las Vegas Invitational.
The win pushes the Wildcats to 13-4 on the season with one more match left to play in Las Vegas. The sixth-ranked Wildcats will play No. 1-ranked Armstrong Atlantic State (Ga.) at 9 a.m. (PST) Thursday at the Darling Tennis Center in their final match of the tournament.
ACU dominated the match from the outset, winning two of three doubles matches, including at No. 1 doubles where the nation's third-ranked doubles team of
Julia Mongin and
Jaclyn Walker knocked off Taylor Brewster and Caitlyn Baines, 8-4.
Micah Hermsdorf and
Lauren White won at No. 3 doubles with a 9-7 win over Mariana Sopnnervig and Yana Bokareva.
The Wildcats then won at each of the first five singles spots, including a split-sets win at No. 1 by Mongin over Brewster.
