Wildcats Earn 2nd Spring Win

Final Results

DALLAS – Alex Carpenter won his 11th collegiate tournament as he was one of four Wildcats to finish in the top 20 for ACU's second team title of the spring season holding off Central Oklahoma by seven strokes at the Dallas Baptist Invitational and The Golf Club of Dallas.

On a cold and dreary day Carpenter battled the elements to shoot a 2 over 72 to finish -5 for the tournament. Carpenter held off Cameron's Jason Timmis who finished at -3 after a final round 73.

Cryil Bouniol also fought to climb up the leader board for a third place finish, shooting -2 under 68 on Tuesday's final round. Bouniol finished at -2 under for the tournament tied with Jeff Rein of St. Mary's and Joel Thelen of Texas Wesleyan.

Tyler Sheppard and Trey Sullivan rounded out the ACU scoring as they both recorded top 20 finishes at the DBU Invite. Sheppard tied for 16th shooting 3 over on Wednesday to finish with a 215 (+5) for the tournament while Sullivan battled back into the top four scoring after just sitting on the outside after the first two rounds on Monday.

Sullivan shot even par 70 to finish at 6 over for the tournament matching his first round score on Monday morning.

The Wildcats as a team shot 842 to finish 2 over holding off Central Oklahoma who finished with an 847 (+7) good for second place. Oklahoma City finished 13 over sitting in third place followed by Oklahoma Christian in fourth. Missouri Southern and Texas Wesleyan both finished at 869 in a tie rounding out the top five.

ACU will finish out their spring schedule as they prep for the Lone Star Conference Championships at the UCO/Kickingbird Classic next week. The two-day tournament will kick off April 4 and finish the 5th before a week off as the Wildcats travel to San Antonio for the LSC Championship.
