DURANT, Okla. – The No. 7-ranked ACU men's tennis team moved one win away from holding the top seed at next weekend's Lone Star Conference Championships as the Wildcats swept East Central and Southeastern Oklahoma by identical, 9-0 scores on Sunday.
The Wildcats moved to 15-9 on the season as they host Cameron to close out the regular season on Wednesday in Abilene. ACU is also a perfect 4-0 in league play heading into the final regular season match where play begins at 3 p.m. from Cecil Eager Tennis Center.
ACU took all three doubles matches to get off to a hot start against No. 38 East Central as Hans Hoch and Bryan Joiner won at No. 1 doubles winning, 8-6. The Wildcats win at No. 2 and No. 3 doubles were by identical 8-4 scores to take an early lead into singles play.
Singles would be just as easy for the Wildcats rolling over the Tigers with no problems to close out ECU, 9-0.
Later in the day ACU would finish their Oklahoma road swing in Durant where they would roll over the Savage Storm, 9-0.
The Wildcats were able to move individuals around as Alfredo Desiati played No. 1 singles for the first time picking up a 6-2, 6-4 win. It would be the closest match for the Wildcats as Jared Hope and Cody McCarty closed out the win for ACU winning 6-0, 6-1 at No. 5 and No. 6 singles.
