Wildcats Suffer Four-Set Loss At Commerce

COMMERCE, Texas - The Abilene Christian volleyball team lost 3-1 at Texas A&M-Commerce Friday night as the Lions became the fifth Lone Star Conference team to reach 20 victories this season.
Commerce (20-8, 11-7 LSC) more than doubled up the Wildcats (10-17, 6-11 LSC) in sets one and four, winning by scores of 25-12 and 25-10, lost a close game three, 27-25, and overcame an early 10-2 deficit in game two to win, 25-23.
ACU struggled on the attack most of the night as it recorded just eight more kills (38) than errors (30) off 145 attempts, while Commerce hit .238 - on 19 fewer attempts - led by Rachel Robertson's 17 kills. The Lions also dominated the net, where they out-blocked the Wildcats, 15-6. Robertson played a role in three of those blocks to finish with 20 points. Kayla Bond was credited with three solo blocks and five assists.
Wildcat senior Kalynne Allen led her side with 11.5 points, and freshman Jennie Loerch had the most kills with 10. Junior Madelyn Robinett ripped nine kills and delivered one of three ACU service aces.
The Wildcats return to action Saturday at 2 p.m. vs. Texas Woman's University.
