ABILENE – ACU sophomore guard Mack Lankford has been voted to the Daktronics all-South Central Region team, which was announced Wednesday.
Lankford – a guard from Weatherford – was voted to the first team, joining region Player of the Year Satoria Bell (Newman), senior guard Shelby Adamson (Tarleton State), senior forward Sabelle Diata (Cameron), and senior guard Ebonie Williams (Washburn) on the first team.
Each of those five players will now be placed on the NCAA Division II all-America ballot, and that team will be announced on March 20.
Second-team All-South Central Region honors went to senior guard Joni Unruh (West Texas A&M), senior forward Jessica Koch (Missouri Western), senior guard Savannah Carver (Midwestern State), junior guard Roselis Silva (Arkansas Tech), and freshman forward Lizzy Jeronimus (Pittsburg State).
Lankford – a first team all-Lone Star Conference selection in 2012 – led the league in scoring at 21.5 points per game and led the Wildcats in assists (3.1 per game) and was fourth in rebounds (4.3 per game).
Lankford played in just 21 games (20 starts) in 2011-12 because of a shoulder injury suffered late in the Wildcats' Dec. 17 overtime win at Eastern New Mexico. ACU went 0-3 in league play without its leader, and those three losses were a factor in the team missing the LSC Post-Season Tournament.
But she still posted four games of 30 points or more to give her seven in her career, including a career-high 38-point effort against Texas A&M-Kingsville on Feb. 19. She also had 33 against Texas-Permian Basin on Nov. 22, 31 vs. Tarleton State on Feb. 14, and 31 vs. Eastern New Mexico on Feb. 11.
Lankford was a second team Daktronics selection in 2010-11 and was the LSC Freshman of the Year while also earning first team all-LSC South Division honors.
