ABILENE - Junior outfielder
Keanna Winkfield of the Abilene Christian softball team Thursday night received a spot on the National Fastpitch Coaches Association's All-South Central Region second team.
Winkfield led the Wildcats in her first year at ACU with a .369 batting average, and ranked among the NCAA Division II and Lone Star Conference leaders with four triples and 24 stolen bases. She also scored 35 runs and drove in 12 from the leadoff position.
Winkfield received second team all-conference honors earlier this month, and in February was voted Lone Star Conference Hitter of the Week after batting .583 through four games at the St. Mary's Tournament.
A native of Giddings, Texas, Winkfield transferred to ACU from Trinity Valley Community College where she was a two-time all-conference selection.
The Wildcats' 30-win season reached its conclusion last weekend at the NCAA South Central Regional Championship after they lost to No. 17 Emporia State in a third-round elimination game.
