Kelsey Smith's Wildcat Basketblog (June 13)

Hey everybody, my name is Kelsey Smith and I am going to be a senior center for the Wildcats next season. It will be my third season here at ACU after I transferred from Missouri State following my freshman season. I'm really looking forward to the upcoming year and I'm focused on making my last season a championship one.

A little more about me. I'm originally from Coppell, Texas right outside of Dallas. My family is still there, including my parents, John and Lisa, and my soon to be 17-yea- old brother, Griffin. But we have spent a lot of the summer with our extended family that live in Ardmore, Oklahoma.

I have made several trips up there already this summer to spend time at the lake and I will definitely be making a few more. I was actually able to meet up with some of my former teammates from Missouri State, who are still some of my closest friends, at the lake for a few days! I would definitely say spending time at the lake is my favorite summer pastime. Playing (and winning) Gin Rummy, fishing, slalom skiing and the delicious food make for one amazing summer.

But when the fun at the lake is over, it's back to Abilene. I'm here in town with my teammates Savannah (Smith) and Renata (Marquez) getting some good workouts in. Hitting the weight room and the track as well as putting up countless shots in Moody. I also have been working a lot of local basketball camps for Wylie High and Abilene High, as well as coaching both of their summer teams and giving private lessons. I can't complain one bit because I'm surrounded by the game I love and it's AWESOME! It's also great experience for me because I plan on becoming a coach after I graduate.

Well, other than that I'd say my summer hass been pretty uneventful so far! I hope everyone out there is having a great summer and we hope to see all of you out at the games to support your Wildcat basketball teams! Go Cats!
