ACU's Jared Mosley wins Under Armour AD Award at NACDA convention

DALLAS – ACU director of athletics Jared Mosley was announced Monday as one of 29 winners of the Under Armour Athletics Director of the Year Award at the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics convention in Dallas.

Mosley was one of four winners at the NCAA Division II level, winning the award for the West Region.  Other NCAA Division II winners were Bill Goldring of Ashland (Ohio) in the Northeast Region, Fran Reidy of Saint Leo (Fla.) University in the Southeast Region, and Tom Rubbelke of Concordia-St. Paul (Minn.) in the Central Region.

Mosley is entering his ninth year as the director of athletics at ACU, and under his leadership the Wildcats have put together one of the top athletics programs in the country.  In those nine seasons the Wildcats have won 10 NCAA Division II national championships, 20 NCAA Division II regional titles and 42 Lone Star Conference championships.

In addition, Mosley has overseen the revitalization of the ACU football program and the introduction of the women's soccer program. The football program has won two of the last four LSC titles and made six straight appearances in the NCAA Division II playoffs, while last year the soccer program – in only its fifth season – came within one victory of reaching the NCAA Division II Final Four.

"Jared Mosley is one of the brightest young minds in collegiate athletics," ACU president Dr. Phil Schubert said.  "His passion and vision for ACU and its athletics programs have helped us build on and maintain one of the best programs and traditions in the country.  We have achieved some remarkable successes in athletics during Jared's tenure because our department is being led by a person of character, humility and vision."

In May 2010, Mosley was elected to a spot on the NCAA Division II Management Council.  Mosley began service on the committee in January 2011.

Proposed legislation is passed on to the Management Council, which oversees all the cabinets and committees at each level.  The Management Council legislation goes on to the Board of Directors, which consists of school presidents, for final approval.

In May 2008, Mosley won the All-American Football Foundation's General Robert Neyland Award as the Athletics Director of the Year for the NCAA Southwest Region. Mosley also serves on the NCAA Division II Men's National Tennis Committee and is on the National Association for Collegiate Directors of Athletics Executive Committee.

Under Mosley's leadership, the Wildcats have finished in the top four of the Learfield Sports Directors' Cup in five of Mosley's eight seasons as the director of athletics, and ninth the other three seasons, including in 2011-12.

Mosley is one of the most highly decorated basketball players in ACU history. He finished his career in 1999 as the 11th-leading scorer and eighth-leading rebounder in school history, and in his senior season (1998-99) he led the Wildcats to the NCAA Division II South Central Region championship game.

He earned several honors during his senior season, including first team GTE academic all-America, first team NCAA all-South Central Region by the NABC, second team all-region by Daktronics-CoSIDA, Lone Star Conference South Division MVP and first team academic all-LSC. He also was awarded a $5,000 NCAA Post-Graduate Scholarship.

Mosley, who graduated with a 3.88 GPA, also was a three-time academic all-LSC pick, two-time all-LSC first team selection and all-tournament selection at the 1999 NCAA II region tournament.
