Women's Basketball

Julie Goodenough's Wildcat Basketblog (June 7)

Hello, Wildcat fans!

Summer is here which means summer workouts, summer school, summer camps, time at the pool, recruiting, and for my family, moving to Abilene, Texas! Whoop Whoop!

My name is Julie Goodenough, and I am the new head coach of your women's basketball team; and me, along with my husband Rob, and daughters Bailey and Macy, are super excited about joining the ACU family and relocating to Texas.

We started our life as the Goodenough family in Abilene years ago.  My girls were both born down the street at Hendrick Hospital.  We moved from Abilene to Stillwater, Oklahoma for a few years, and then moved to the east coast to Charleston, South Carolina. God has blessed our family with an exciting journey to different parts of the country where we have made awesome friends and made great memories.

When you take a new coaching job, the transition always comes in phases and never all at once.  My family stayed in South Carolina to finish school while I began my job at ACU back in April.  I now have my younger daughter with me in Abilene and look forward to my older daughter joining us in a couple of weeks.  My husband will be moving here for good in late July just in time to begin his new job at Wylie High School. So until then we reside in a hotel where we have a pool, breakfast everyday and maid service.  I know - it is a really tough life. : )

You might expect that my family would be very involved in sports as fans and participants.  Once the school year begins we will attend tons of athletic events.  As most true Texans, we are huge football fans, both high school and college fans, so in the fall watching games on Friday nights and on Saturdays is the norm.

Both of my girls play volleyball and will be playing at Wylie High School so that will keep us busy on many weekday nights this fall. Their volleyball season will be followed by their basketball and softball seasons.  I try to attend as many of their events as possible while coaching my own season ( which by the way, I am so anxious for it to begin!)  We are also excited to be Wildcat fans for all of the ACU teams.  When any team on campus wins, we all win!

Other than sports, we, as a family love going to the beach, Disney World, and to Broadway shows.  With four busy schedules, we cherish the family time we have and strive to make the most of it. This summer our family time will be awesome as we find a house, get moved, get plugged into new schools and a new church and begin our exciting adventure as ACU Wildcats and Wylie Bulldogs!

Enjoy your summer and please check out our website each week to get to know our players and find out what they are up to this summer.
