Women's Basketball

Renata Marquez' Wildcat Basketblog (July 19)

Helllo World!

My name is Renata Marquez and next year I will be a junior playing for ACU basketball. I am also a nursing major hoping to become a CRNA (Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetists).

I have been doing several things this summer, including hanging with friends, practicing my cooking skills, working out with teammates, spending a mini vacation with the family, and working camps.  I also took a microbiology class at McMurry during the first part of the summer and I'm pretty sure I got a good grade ... I think.

I'm staying here in Abilene this summer along with teammates Kelsey Smith and Savannah Smith, and we have partnered up and been working out in the weight room, conditioning in the gym, as well as getting shots up in Moody Coliseum and the Rec Center.

I have always loved to cook, but never had my own kitchen nor did I have to cook until this summer. Since I'm in my apartment and have my own kitchen, I love it. I pretty much cook dinner every night! I like trying new things, cooking my mom's recipes, and sometimes when I'm lazy and don't feel like cooking, which is rare, I might pop something in the microwave. Typical for a college kid right? So, my favorite type of food I like to cook is seafood. I like pan-seared salmon, scallops and shrimp boils. And I don't know what I would do without my rice cooker.

During the Fourth of July weekend, my family and I went down to the Comal and San Marcos Rivers. We spent hours on the Comal tubing down the shoot back and forth at Prince Solms Park. The next day went floating several times down the San Marcos River. Can't go wrong anytime we go somewhere with water for my family vacation.

Earlier this summer I worked the two ACU women's basketball camps, which were super fun especially with the kids, and now I'm working a Don Eddy Basketball Camp, which is also pretty exciting! Tons of kids are here learning the game of basketball! Hopefully I will have just as good second half of the summer as I did the first!

Oh, and I almost forgot to mention my sister, Camille, got engaged! Woohoooo! Congrats!
