Whitney West's Wildcat Basketblog (Sept. 24)

Hello everyone!

My name is Whitney West and I'm a freshman guard for the Wildcat basketball team this year! I'm also majoring in biology with hopes of becoming a radiologist later down the line.

I am from Portland, Texas, which is just north of Corpus Christi. My parent's names are Greg and Holli and my sister's name is Mackenzie. We live about five minutes away from the nearest beach, so of course, my family and I spend a lot of time there.

My summer was so much fun! I got to spend a lot of time with friends and family back home, but I also worked on my game in the gym and did crossfit in preparing for my move to Abilene. When I'm not in the gym, I enjoy spending time at the lake, wakeboarding, going to the beach, and vacationing at the Frio River.

For my birthday, which was on August 18th, my family took me to the Texas Ski Ranch in San Marcos – a 70-acre cable lake where anyone can spend the day wakeboarding. We were there all day and it was probably the most fun I had all summer!

My life in Abilene, so far, has been really awesome! I really enjoy spending time with the team. The change from high school to college basketball has so far been big, but I love it. I really like being around people that have the same goals I do. I am looking forward to basketball season and winning the Lone Star Conference!
