ABILENE – ACU director of athletics Lee De León announced Monday that the Wildcat football team will be playing on FieldTurf, the world's leader in artificial turf surfaces, when Anthony Field at Wildcat Stadium opens on campus in September 2017.
Wildcat Stadium – which will host its first game on Saturday, Sept. 16, 2017, when the Wildcats host Houston Baptist in a Southland Conference contest – will feature FieldTurf Revolution 360 turf, an improved version of the market-leading Revolution fiber, installed at hundreds of installations across North America, including Gillette Stadium (New England) and CenturyLink Field (Seattle). Revolution 360 maintains the high performing UV and Softness properties of its predecessor, while significantly improving its durability and resilience.
"Our theme for ACU Athletics is 'Excellence for Christ,' and we want to continue to partner with companies that embody excellence," De León said. "FieldTurf is one of those companies and we are thrilled to partner with them on our new football stadium."
ACU head coach
Ken Collums said his teams have played many times on FieldTurf over the last several years, and he believes it's the best surface in the industry.
"FieldTurf is a great surface for players, and I know our teams will enjoy practicing and playing on it when the stadium opens," Collums said. "We're going to have a first-class stadium, and we're getting a first-class surface to go into that stadium. I couldn't be more pleased that we'll be playing on FieldTurf."
When it comes to artificial turf sports fields, FieldTurf is the most trusted brand in the industry. Whether its for football, soccer, baseball or any other sport, FieldTurf fields provide athletes with the safety and performance they need to perform at their best, while giving field owners the durability they want to maximize the value of their investment. FieldTurf is the world leader in artificial turf with over 7,500 installations worldwide.
"We are very happy to have been chosen by Abilene Christian University and we are certain that the Wildcats will be pleased with their new high-performing field," said Eric Daliere, President, FieldTurf.
