AUSTIN, Texas– Abilene Christian softball battled with No. 10 Virginia Tech on Sunday morning falling in a narrow defeat, 4-1. After an early two-run homerun from the Hokies, 
Riley White entered to pitch in relief and threw a solid five innings. The Wildcats were able to plate a single run, but 15 strikeouts on the day were too much to overcome.  
 
HOW IT HAPPENED: 
	- The Hokies opened up the scoring with a two-run homerun in the bottom of the second inning.
 
	- A walk from Shaylee Alani and a single from Catrin Hoffman put two on with no outs in the top of the third, but the Wildcats weren't able to capitalize.
 
	- VT tacked on a run in the bottom of the fourth with a sac fly to go up 3-0.
 
	- Sydney Kaiser put the Wildcats on the board in the top of the fifth with a sac fly that brought home Olivia Taylor, but VT answered in the bottom of the inning to push their lead to 4-1.
 
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE:
	- This was the third game on the weekend that ACU tallied two or fewer hits.
 
	- The team's 15 strikeouts are the most in a game this season, their third game of the year with double-digit strikeouts.
 
	- Catrin Hoffman extended her hitting streak to five games with a single in the third.
 
 
ON DECK: 
	- The Wildcats will head to Monroe, La. for a midweek matchup with ULM before making their way on to Mississippi State for a tournament next weekend.
