Biography

2010 Outlook: NCAA Division II outdoor champion in triple jump and two-time league TJ winner who returns for junior season with Wildcats. Also has LSC title in long jump. 

 

2009 Track and Field (Sophomore): Captured national title with legal 52-4.75 (-1.7) in San Angelo after 50-2 win at LSC meet in Kingsville. Runner-up at Mt. SAC and fourth at Texas Relays. Also led ACU in long jump with windy 24-11.25 for win at Oliver Jackson Classic in Abilene. LSC winner in long jump at 23-9 and seventh at NCAA national meet (24-1.75). Also national qualifier indoors in both events (23-1.25 for 10th, 48-2 for eighth in Houston). Bests were 23-7.5 at USAF and 49-7.75 at Tech.

 

2008 Track and Field (Freshman): Indoor bests were 24-7 (at Tyson) and 49-5 (for fifth in triple jump at NCAA national meet in Mankato, Minn.). Also fifth in NCAA indoor LJ at 23-2.75. Had outdoor best of windy 24-6.25 at ACU triangular and won LSC title with 23-8.75 in Abilene. Repeated fifth place finish at NCAA outdoor meet in 23-9.5. In triple jump finished fifth in NCAA Division II outdoor meet with 2008 best of 50-4.75, fifth at Texas Relays and third at Lone Star Conference. 

 

2007 Track and Field (Freshman): Redshirt.

 

High School: Two-time Class 4A all-state selection in triple jump. As a junior in 2005, Sparks finished second at state in triple jump (46-2.5). As senior in 2006 he was 12th in the triple jump (44-2). He also competed in football and basketball with all-district and all-conference honors in both sports.
