Chris Garcia enters his second season on the Abilene Christian women's basketball staff in 2025-26 as an assistant coach and creative recruiting coordinator. A 2019 ACU graduate, he returned to his alma mater ahead of the 2024-25 campaign.

ACU experienced its deepest postseason run in the program’s 12-year Division I history in 2024-25. The Wildcats reached the Super 16 round of the Women’s National Invitation Tournament for the first time ever, building a 22-13 record with a 9-7 mark in Western Athletic Conference play. ACU accrued its most victories, highest overall winning percentage and highest conference winning percentage since 2020.

Four-year veteran Bella Earle led the charge on the All-WAC First Team and WAC All-Defensive Team, while sophomore Meredith Mayes was an All-WAC Second Team selection. The Wildcats made a living on the defensive side of the ball, forcing the 14th-most turnovers in the nation at 21.5 per game and ranked 30th with 10.5 steals per game.

Prior to making his way back to Abilene, Garcia served two seasons as an assistant coach at Oklahoma Christian University from 2022-24. He spent the 2021-22 season as an assistant coach at Texas A&M-Commerce (now East Texas A&M), where he worked alongside current Oklahoma Christian head coach Markeith Brown. The Lions went 27-5, reaching the top spot on the Division II-Sports Information Directors Association national poll. They engineered the Lone Star Conference's top scoring offense at 78.9 points per game and best scoring margin of 15.0 points. A&M-Commerce was the LSC's No. 1 rebounding team with 45.7 boards per game, including 17.3 on the offensive glass.

During the 2020-21 season, Garcia was an assistant coach at UT Tyler in the LSC. He was a student assistant coach for ACU women's basketball across the 2018-19 and 2019-20 campaigns, during which time the Wildcats went a combined 47-15 overall with a 29-9 mark in the Southland Conference. In 2019, ACU captured the conference tournament title and reached the NCAA Tournament for the first time in team history. Garcia served as a student manager for the Wildcat men's basketball program from 2015-18.
