TUCSON, Ariz. -- The ACU Wildcats will take on Arizona Friday night in the first game of a three-game series that will put a cap on the program's first season at the NCAA Division I level.
The Wildcats of ACU are 17-34 entering Friday night's contest, while the Wildcats of Arizona – College World Series champions as recently as 2012 – are 20-32. Arizona finished next-to-last in the Pac-12 and will not advance to the NCAA national tournament.
ACU will send freshman righthander Russell Crippen (0-1, 3.00 ERA) to the mound to take on Arizona senior righthander James Farris (5-6, 3.53 ERA). Farris was the starter for the Wildcats in the 2012 national championship game against South Carolina.
After Friday night's 6 p.m. contest (8 p.m. Abilene time), the Wildcats and Wildcats will face off again Saturday at 6 p.m. (8 p.m. Abilene time) before wrapping up the season at noon Sunday (2 p.m. Abilene time).
